"BHAIRAB NAACH" - Bairava's Dance - Pokhara, Nepal

This photo collage is of a dance which features performers wearing costumes and masks of the 12 gods or "bhairabs." It is part of the Newari culture and is performed once every 6 years in Pokhara, Nepal as part of the Indra Jatra festival. I was fortunate enough to be in Pokhara at that time and taken there by my host family.

I LOVE NEPAL!

This is a photo presentation of my experience in the Rotary GSE program during our visit to the beautiful country of Nepal. Just watching this, makes me want to be back there. I miss it and my wonderful friends over there very much. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

A 14-year Rotary Club member, Barbara is the Executive Director of Susan B. Anthony Project, a nonprofit organization that provides support services for victims of domestic and sexual abuse. Barbara and her husband Tom live in Norfolk, where they enjoy a variety of outdoor activities--especially when their son and daughter come home to visit!

A Storrs native, Liz is a Quality Engineer for the Turbine Module Center at Pratt & Whitney. She earned her BS in Material Science and Engineering from UCONN and a MS in Management from Rensslaer Polytechnic Institute.

Liz is an avid traveller, who has shared her adventures with her family, including her twin sister.

An Appalachian Trail thru-hiker (2,175 miles), Nate received his BS in Environmental Studeis from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania. While living in Georgia, he worked for the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club and the US Forest Service, where he managed over 100,000 acres of the Chattahoochee National Forest.

Nate currently lives in Unionville with his wife Tina and works for EMS outfitting individuals for outdoor adventure.

A native of Pittsfield, Matt has served as a police officer for 17 years and is currently a police sergeant. He graduated from UMASS-Amherst where he received his BA in Communication and from Boston University where he received his Masters in Criminal Justice.

Having returned to her hometown of South Hadley, Katherine is currently the Area Service Director for Western New England at Kaplan Test Prep. She graduated from UNH with a BA in Communications and earned an MBA from the Isenberg School at UMASS.

Nepal will be the 19th country Katherine will have visited, for which she feels very fortunate.
